The Doll Exhibit

Garden of the Gulf Museum The Railway Comes to Montague

 Love Dolls?

When it comes to dolls , you either love them or think they are “creepy”. Let’s hope you love this representation of dolls over the ages of Three Rivers – from the Victorian era to pop culture.

Many of the dolls on display are from the collection of Marian Robertson, late of Fortune Bridge and Montague (1942-2034). Marion was an avid doll collector, doll maker,  and also a doll “doctor” having her own “hospital” where she mended the broken dolls. She was born in Fortune Bridge but lived in Montague after retirement with her husband Paul, and served on the Montague Town Council prior to amalgamation. Marion was also an enthusiastic volunteer with several local community groups. She moved to Summerside in later years where she passed in 2024. The Museum is a grateful recipient of her collection.
