July 2026 Open House

The Museum started its season with an open house on location June 28, 2 to 4 PM, with the first official public day being July 2. As with tradition, this day was free admission. On hand to greet the public were: Jayne Ings, Museum Manager & Curator; Emily Merriam, 2026 SeniorĀ  Tour Guide; Evangeline Hewitt, former Student On Board & 2026 Summer Tour Guide; Peter Verleun, Board President & Treasurer; Yvette Lunn; Board Member; Wayne Spin, Board Member; and Debra MacIntyre, Board Member.

There was a turn-out of over 150 interested people, some local, some former residents, and a few tourists. Part way through the afternoon, President Peter officially “cut the ribbon” declaring the Garden of the Gulf Museum officially open for the 2026 season, aided by Jayne and Wayne who held the red ribbon. Peter gave a short inspiring speech on the history and importance of the museum.

This year the museum welcomed two new exhibits: the Doll Exhibit on the 2nd floor and the Railway Arrives In Montague.
