ARTIFACTORY OPEN HOUSE

The Garden of the Gulf Museum & Artifactory in Three Rivers hosted a Community Open House from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, January 18, 2025 at the museum’s Artifactory on 20 Sullivan Drive, Montague (across from TCAP and the Cavendish Farms Wellness Centre).

This informal event was well-attended with approximately 200 people through the doors. Board members, student intern Board members, and former staff conducted tours throughout the Artifactory and were on hand to answer questions from the public. Attendees were encouraged to sign up for the newsletter, be a  volunteer, guess mystery artifacts, and enter for door prizes. The genealogy area of the building, sporting the many banners outlining the new direction of the Museum and Artifactory, was set-up as a refreshment and discussion area.  Midway through the afternoon, Chair Peter Verleun gave a welcome speech and together with Board Secretary, Keara Higgins, unveiled the new logo. Special guests in attendance Dr Dutch Thompson (celebrated local historian), Paul MacNeil (Eastern Graphic), and Edgar Dewar (former Board member when the Artifactory was built) also gave short speeches. See below for Peter’s speech and some highlights of the day.
